SpaceUp Leicester will take place on 17-18 November at the DOCK, headlined by the University of Leicester’s Space Industries Accelerator (SIA). Full details can be found at: https://spaceupleicester.org.uk
SpaceUp Leicester will be the city’s first SpaceUp ‘unconference’. The interactive format invites space enthusiasts from any discipline to give a pitch, a short talk or propose a discussion on any topic related to space. The aim is to use the event as a launchpad towards further creative activities in support of Space Park Leicester, which seeks to translate space research and Earth Observation data into commercial applications for businesses to utilise. Successful innovation requires input across disciplines.
The Space Industries Accelerator (SIA) will be working together with the SpaceUp Leicester team, as headline supporter, to develop a ‘grass roots’ community of space enthusiasts and professionals in Leicester. Based at the University of Leicester, the SIA is part of the UK Space Incubator Network and is funded by the UK Space Agency and University of Leicester’s Innovation Hub. As a part of the Leicester Innovation Hub, its mission is to identify and support aspiring entrepreneurs to develop and transform their ideas and innovations into ready to launch start-ups. It is the hope that this event will help new space ideas, groups and even start-ups to emerge.
Registration is now open and includes tickets for:
- SpaceUp “unconference” (Sat only) – which includes a free t-shirt, tea & coffee and lunch
- Group visit to National Space Centre (Sun only) – which includes entry to the six galleries crammed full of space suits, rockets, satellites and meteorites, the iconic Rocket Tower and the UK’s largest domed planetarium.
Tickets can be purchased through Pictatic.
SpaceUp Leicester is made possible by the kind sponsorship of Printech Circuit Laboratories, HE Space, Open Cosmos, International Space University (ISU) and Design & Data GmbH, and the support of the Space Industries Accelerator.
