Day 1 – Saturday 17th November
The main activities of SpaceUp Leicester will take place on Day 1 at:
75 Exploration Drive
Leicester LE4 5NU
Dock offers a range of workspaces for science, hi tech and innovative businesses, located at Pioneer Park, next to the National Space Centre in Leicester.
How to get there
Dock is located just off the A6 (Abbey Lane), two miles north of Leicester City Centre. Look for brown road signs with a distinctive rocket logo – for the National Space Centre. There is free visitor parking outside Dock for 14 cars and overflow parking at the Space Centre for £2 per day.
East Midlands Trains and Cross Country Trains serve Leicester Station. From here you can either take a bus or a taxi to Exploration Drive.
First Bus 54 (Goodwood to Beaumont Centre) runs every 10 minutes Monday to Saturday and every 20 minutes on Sunday from the train station and from stand CT on Charles Street, a short walk from the train station. The 54 bus goes up Abbey Lane and turns left in Beaumont Leys Lane opposite Corporation Road (turn right onto Exploration Drive, which leads down to the National Space Centre and Dock). National Express Coaches use St Margaret’s Bus Station in the city centre.
Green Route 1 is a walking and cycling route that follows the River Soar and Grand Union Canal north out of Leicester city centre, passing by the National Space Centre and Dock. There are sheltered cycle racks available to use, please pop into reception for access.
East Midlands Airport is Leicester’s nearest. The X27 Skylink bus runs between the airport and St Margaret’s Bus Station daily every 30 minutes during the day (hourly at night), and stops at the Abbey Lane/Corporation Road junction – handy for the National Space Centre and Dock.
Day 2 – Sunday 18th November
On Day 2 we will include an optional group visit to the National Space Centre with its six interactive galleries, the UK’s largest planetarium, and the iconic 42m high Rocket Tower. It is located next to the DOCK at:
